Semen Analysis Procedure After Your Vasectomy
- Day of procedure, front staff to collect payment of $149.00
for the Fellow Vasectomy Test kit - Test kit will be provided by clinical staff once they are in an
exam room - Instruct the patient to scan the activation QR code on the
outside of the box and complete all fields - Wait for the patient to complete activation. Confirm completion by asking to see the “party whale” confetti screen.
- First sample is 12 weeks afler the vasectomy or later
(Monday through Thursday mornings) - Fellow will contact the patient via e-mail to remind them
to complete their test, increasing compliance - Patient will produce a sample, complete kit registration at
this time and send it to Fellow’s lab - Everything the patient needs is included within the kit along
with contact information for Fellow support - The patient will drop of the sample at the local UPS store,
same day drop off - There is a prepaid shipping label attached to the back of the kit
- Results will be sent to patient via secured link, 5 to 7 days afler sample received
- Advanced Urology Associates will have access through a portal to obtain results
- If the patient has a failed test. Fellow will work directly with the patient to dispatch a replacement kit at no charge to be re-tested until azoospermia
The Fellow Vasectomy Test
Advanced Urology Associates has partnered with Fellow to provide post-vasectomy semen analysis to ensure your vasectomy is successful. The Vasectomy Test is performed 12 weeks after your vasectomy and Fellows mail-in kit allows you to provide a sample at your convenience in the comfort of your own home. The Vasectomy Test meets the American Urological Association guidelines for post vasectomy semen analysis. All samples are analyzed in Fellow’s CLIA-certified lab.
What you should know about the test
- Fellow eliminates the need to schedule an appointment or coordinate drop off within 2 hours.
- If any sperm cells are present, Fellow will provide no~charge retesting until success is confirmed.
- The test costs $149. Payment will be collected by Advanced Urology Associates.
- You will be asked to activate the kit before you leave the clinic. Activation lets Fellow know that you have a kit and enables them to remind you to complete the test 12 weeks after your procedure.
- 12 weeks after your vasectomy, open the kit and follow the instructions to register your kit and provide your sample.
- Sample registration is required at the time you produce your sample using the QRcode on the inside of your kit, even if you activated the kit when you first received it by scanning the QR code on the outside of the box. Registration is how our lab gets the information we need to process your results.
- The kit comes with a prepaid UPS Ground shipping label and can be dropped off at a local UPS store or scheduled to be picked up from your home.
- Results will be available to you and your provider 5 to 7 business days after shipment.
